John and Carla Moore

A native of Dripping Springs, Texas, John has served as an evangelist, teacher, preacher and minister of the gospel for over 30 years. He and his wife Carla are instructors at Bear Valley Bible Institute International, and serve as the founders and directors of Bible Passages, a ministry dedicated to training preachers, equipping the saints, defending the faith, and guiding people to Jesus. They reside both in Denver and Dripping Springs, Texas.
Prior to his work with Bible Passages, John served as the pulpit minister for the Dripping Springs church of Christ, an instructor at the Southwest School of Bible Studies in Austin, and as a campus minister and director of the Bible chair at the University church of Christ in San Marcos, Texas.
He is a certified public school teacher and a graduate of Southwest Texas State University, where he earned a B.S. degree in History and Communication and a Masters of Education degree in the department of Counseling and Psychological Services.
He has also served as an adjunct faculty member of the Austin Graduate School of Theology teaching college accredited Bible classes in the Dripping Springs community. John serves on the advisory board of World Video Bible School, and completed 9 years of service as a school board trustee for the Dripping Springs Independent School District. He served for nearly twenty years in the capacity of Assistant Director of both the annual Southwest Hensel Bible Camp, and the AIM Youth Leadership camp at Peach Valley. He is the narrator for the Searching for Truth DVD and author of the book by the same name. He served from 2005 through 2008 as a co-editor of the monthly periodical The Gospel Journal. John is also the narrator and instructor of Learning to Use the Greek New Testament, a thorough study of New Testament Greek presented in 35 lessons on 13 DVDs.
John and Carla's most recent endeavor includes his directorship of the Bible Land Passages Project as well as serving as one of the scriptwriters and narrators of the Bible Land Passages videos. He and his wife Carla are also the directors of Bible Passage Tours, Expeditions, and Studies; an educational ministry dedicated to defending the faith and edifying the church. Since 2016 they have been leading tours and conducting filming expeditions to the Bible lands in the countries of Israel, Turkey, Greece, and Rome. In addition to John being enrolled at Jerusalem University College, he and Carla were blessed to reside in Israel during the summers of 2017 and 2018. John also also participated as a volunteer at the dig sites both at Tel Shiloh and Tel Burna (the proposed biblical Libnah).

Since 1986, he has preached in Gospel Meetings and lectureships in over nineteen states and has conducted or participated in numerous campaigns to various foreign countries including Jamaica, Tobago, Malaysia, and Singapore.

Carla grew up in a family dedicated to ministry, then met John while they were in college at Texas State University. They married in 1986, and have since been involved in ministry at the Bible Chair on the campus of TSU, then with the Southwest School of Bible Studies in Austin, Texas, and then with Dripping Springs church of Christ.
In January of 2017, they began working with Bear Valley Bible Institute International where Carla teaches in the women’s program. Carla taught for over ten years in the Christian Women’s Studies program at the Southwest School of Bible Studies. She enjoys speaking to women of all ages in various places and is a staff writer for Christian Woman magazine. She also has served in numerous Christian youth camps, and especially enjoys helping John guide trips to Israel, and blogging about those experiences here. John and Carla have three sons, Jordan (daughter-in-law, Erin), Jacob (daughter-in-law, Alyssa), and Micah (daughter-in-law Courtney), two grandsons, Jackson, and 6 granddaughters.
Statement of Faith
The Bible is the only the standard by which sinners will be judged. Creeds of men must be rejected as authoritative, and should never be used as a standard for determining religious truth. However, realizing that statements of faith can be profitable to facilitate discussion and understanding between those who seek to glorify God, we offer the attached declarations for what we believe regarding various issues facing the church.
